Gender pay transparency: Draft bill published for public consultation

At a glance

  • On 19 September 2025, a draft bill to implement the requirements of the EU Gender Pay Transparency Directive (Directive) was published for public review and comments.
  • The deadline for any comments is 9 October 2025.
  • Once the consultation closes, the next steps will be for the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family to review the comments, discuss with stakeholders and amend the draft as required.
  • A final draft will then be presented to the government for approval and further legislative steps.
  • The consultation and legislative process is expected to take a minimum of a few weeks and this could potentially extend into several months.
  • According to the draft bill, the provisions implementing the Directive will ultimately come into force on 1 June 2026.
